Very occasionally you may experience a corrupt Clarion TPS file. The
cause of corruption can be a network server problem, hardware problem or a
code problem. Generally speaking, a code problem is very unlikely so the
obvious culprits are the network server or hardware.
If you encounter TPS file corruption, please ensure that all the
network cables are in place and that the network cards in each workstation
are 10/100 compatible.
If you need to recover a corrupt TPS file, the following PDF file
explains what to do. Just substitute your settings. If you need
assistance, please contact me.

Occasionally it is necessary to add or
change fields in a data file. This can cause an error to be displayed if
the data file has not been converted to match the program dictionary. This
event is not uncommon and is a normal part of system administration.
A data file mismatch is indicated by an
error 47 screen which appears when you have tried to access a file within
the program.

Instructions on how to convert a data file are contained in the PDF
file below. Just substitute your settings. If you need assistance, please

Occasionally your Clarion program may require an upgrade due
to a maintenance release or a requested program change. Normally your
upgrade will be sent as an email attachment which you can install yourself.
Here are the steps to install an upgrade:-
* Make sure that your program is
closed and that no users are accessing the program. Be particularly
careful of users who have left the program open and left their workstations.
* Open the upgrade email and save
the upgrade attachment to the desktop.

Zipped upgrade file saved to desktop
* Make sure you print the email and
take notice of any installation instructions such as file conversions etc.
* If your upgrade was sent as a
zipped file e.g. upgrade.zip then double click the attachment you saved to
the desktop and extract the actual upgrade program (which has an .exe
extension) to the desktop.

Winzip opens the extraction dialogue box

Click the Extract icon

Choose the Desktop as the Extraction
target location
* Double click the actual
installation program ... it will have the same name as the zip file but with
the extension of .exe and the install program will start.

Extracted upgrade program saved on
desktop
* Follow the prompts on the
installation screens unless advised otherwise in the email instructions.

* Once the installation has
completed you can go ahead and open your Clarion program and test it.
* Normally you can see the changes
in the What's New menu option of your program. Please make sure you check
any file convert instructions.
